ATEX Hazardous Area Zone 0, 1 & 2 Classification Studies
Proper area classification is the legal and technical bedrock of industrial explosion safety. Our senior chemical and electrical safety engineers conduct rigorous on-site surveys per IEC 60079-10, mapping flammable gas, vapor, and combustible dust sources into clearly demarcated Zone 0, Zone 1, and Zone 2 CAD drawings.
Zone Definition Scope
- 1. Zone 0 (Continuous Hazard): Areas where explosive gas atmospheres are present continuously or for prolonged periods (> 1000 hours/year).
- 2. Zone 1 (Intermittent Hazard): Areas where explosive atmosphere is likely to occur in normal operations (10 to 1000 hours/year).
- 3. Zone 2 (Abnormal Hazard): Areas where explosive atmosphere is not likely to occur in normal operations and lasts briefly (< 10 hours/year).
- 4. Dust Zones (20 / 21 / 22): Classification of combustible industrial dust clouds in food, grain, and pharmaceutical processing.
